What Is It That You Do? A New UCEC Video Debuts

By Mark Inboden

Ever get the question:  "What do you do for a living?" Or, "What does your company do or make?" If you are a heart surgeon, work for an auto body shop or are a doughnut maker, it is easy to answer these questions.

Here at UCEC, many of our friends and family ask us what we do. Sometimes it turns into a long conversation if they are not familiar with electrical engineering or terms such as Industrial Controls, PLC and Industrial Automation. I often ask if they have seen a James Bond movie. If yes, I ask them to picture the final scene in the villain’s hideout, where there are all these large, gray metal cabinets with lights and dials.

I tell them that we make all kinds of electrical controls panels that look similar to those, but not for villains in James Bond movies! That kind of gives them an idea of what we do.

That is a great segue for me to introduce the first UCEC video. By making a video, I thought it would be a great way to show everyone what we do, and to have some insight into the UCEC Experience I often talk about.

We engaged our marketing firm, Magnetika, to develop a short video, just over two minutes in length. Many thanks to Valerie Hausladen and Andrew Brislin for capturing and presenting my vision in the precise manner I wanted. They were great to work with and did a super job.
